The Atlas Marcato Pasta Machine is a good buy for under $100. This pasta maker is described as an authentic Italian pasta machine. One thing we have discovered as we have tried many pasta machines and compared notes, Italian designed pasta machines usually work better and last longer than many others. Perhaps, that is because pasta is a regular side dish of most Italian meals.
The Atlas Marcato Pasta Machine is is made of a heavyweight chromed steel. That is something that should be looked for when purchasing any pasta machine. The weight of the machine is something we always look for. Lightweight machines seem to far less durable and less efficient than those made of steel. The chrome finish is also a key to look for as it resists rust. However, it must be noted that all chrome finishes are not equal. The Atlas Marcato has a sufficient chrome coating to earn its place as one of our favorite machines.
This pasta machine does come with cutters for both spaghettini and fettucine. We find that is sufficient for the novice pasta maker. Once the process is perfected by the cook, adding additional cutters is not a problem. Atlas offers a full range of cutters to fit the Marcato Pasta Machine.
The machine dimensions are less than an 8" cube. Needless to repeat, this pasta machine is manufactured in Italy.
With a cost of less than $100, this is a good choice for the novice. Attachments are available for around $30 each. The following attachments are readily available.
- Angel Hair
- Trenette
- Spaghetti
- Two attachment for two sizes of lasagna
Replacement parts are also easy to find, including the clamp that attaches the pasta machine to the table.
As one can see, the cost of the pasta machine with all attachments available could run the cost up to $200 or more. This is something to consider when making the initial purchase. If the buyer has no problem adding attachments one at a time or as needed, it is worth noting that the cutting attachments run about $30 each.
While this pasta machine is highly recommended, it must be suggested that the potential buyer weigh the cost of the basic machine against the total cost with all attachments. Be certain to take note of what is included with the basic machine as some pasta machines come with more attachments included than others.
